Boiler Service Dublin –\u00a0<\/em>I realise this website and this blog might relate to a boiler service in Dublin. Let\u2019s change tact a little and delve into a little bit of Dublin history! A blog post on a Boiler Service Dubli<\/em>n or a bit of nostalgic memories about our grand old city! Dubh Linn or should I say Baile Athe Cliath or maybe Dublin!! Or a blog post on \u2018boiler service dublin<\/em>\u2019!! OK then!<\/p>\n

You may remember or even have the commemorative 50 pence coin, released in 1988 to celebrate Dublin\u2019s 1000 year. Well, some may argue Dublin is almost 2000 years old, but let\u2019s skip straight to the bloody Vikings or as they called themselves Ostmen!<\/p>\n

The Viking settlement was known as Dyflin, from the Gaelic, Duiblinn. If you can remember or practice your Gaelic, Duib (Black) Linn (Pool) \u2013 hence Blackpool. So, the Vikings named Dublin after a dark tidal pool where the Dooder entered the Liffey. But where did Ath Cliath come from?<\/p>\n

Well there where two settlements, the Viking settlement and a Gaelic settlement, which was referred to as Ath Cliath which means \u2018ford of hurdles\u2019, further upstream and closer to Church Street. Which isn\u2019t too far from the Oldest Pub in Dublin, The Brazen Head and the Four Courts.<\/p>\n

You may see on maps and signposts, Baile Ath Cliath well this relates to the Gaelic settlement and Dublin relates to the Viking settlement. There you have it!<\/p>\n

Now, we could go on, but let\u2019s leave it at that!<\/p>\n
